HOPELESSNESS...

There is a real magic in enthusiasm. It spells the difference between mediocrity and accomplishment. The curiosity of Adam explains it all, because he did not want the apple for the apple's sake, he wanted it because it was forbidden. Yet God might have realised that he who lives without folly isn't so wise as he thinks.

The despair felt in abandoning hope of comfort or success, just when the caterpillar thought life was over, it became a butterfly. Consider a man's limitations, they are not the things he wants to do and can't; they are the things he ought to do but doesn't. The difficult we will do eventually, the impossible will just take a little more time. If you are pained by external things, it is not they that disturb you, but your own judgement of them. And it is in your power to wipe out that judgement now.

Hopelessness drive the vulnerable into a state of low mood and aversion to activity that can affect a person's thoughts, behaviour, feelings and sense of well-being. Hopelessness make people feel sad, anxious, empty, depression, worried, helpless, worthless, guilty, irritable, hurt, or restless. A victim may lose interest in activities that once were pleasurable, experience loss of appetite or overeating, have problems concentrating, remembering details, or making decisions, and may contemplate, attempt, or commit suicide. Insomnia, excessive sleeping, fatigue, loss of energy, or aches, pains, or digestive problems may also be present.

Presumably a man who has never hoped can never despair. Lets remember that suicide, as well as happiness can become a feeling and to the sick, while there is life there is hope. Though a good motive cannot sanction a bad action, a bad motive will always vitiate a good action. In common and trivial matters we may act without motives, but in momentous ones the most careful deliberation is wisdom.

The men who succeed best in life always have been cheerful and hopeful men; who went about their business with a smile on their faces; and took the changes and chances of this mortal life like men; facing rough and smooth alike as it came. Nearly every man who develops an idea works at it up to the point where it looks impossible, and then gets discouraged. that's not the place to become discouraged.

Hope is both the earliest and the most indispensable virtue inherent in the state of being alive. If life is to be sustained hope must remain, even where confidence is wounded and trust impaired. The past always looks better than it was because it isn't here.

Hope is a bad thing. It means that you are not what you want to be. It means that part of you is dead, if not all of you. It means that you entertain illusions. It's a sort of spiritual clap. Man, proud man, dressed in a little brief authority, most ignorant of what he's most assured, glassy essence, like an angry ape, plays such fantastic tricks before high heaven, as make the angels weep.

In our sad condition our only consolation is the expectancy of another life. Here below all is incomprehensible. Don't lose hope. When the sun goes down, the stars come out, yet if we wait for the moment when everything, absolutely everything is ready, we shall never begin.

Hold your head high, stick your chest out. You can make it. It gets dark sometimes, but morning comes. Keep hope alive and remember you will never walk alone.
