Genital warts are caused by some types of the human papillomavirus (HPV). Once you get genital warts, it may be hard to keep them from coming back.

What people call a good patient is one who, having found a good doctor, sticks to him till he dies. Nature, time and patience are the three great physicians, hence keeping the three for good remains essential.

A wart is generally a small, rough growth, typically on a human’s hands or feet but often other locations, that can resemble a cauliflower or a solid blister. They are caused by a viral infection, specifically by one of the many types of human papillomavirus (HPV). There are as many as 10 varieties of warts, the most common considered to be mostly harmless. It is possible to get warts from others; they are contagious and usually enter the body in an area of broken skin. They typically disappear after a few months but can last for years and can recur.

It is the duty of a doctor to prolong life and it is not his duty to prolong the act of dying.

Warts that affect the genital area are fairly common in men and women. Up to one percent of the U.S. population has genital warts at any time. And while genital warts are related to other types of warts, they're not exactly the same.

For each illness that doctors cure with medicine, they provoke ten in healthy people by inoculating them with the virus that is a thousand times more powerful than any microbe: the idea that one is ill.

HPV can cause a variety of conditions from warts on other parts of the body to cervical cancer.

HPV can be spread through vaginal, anal, or oral sex, as well as skin to skin contact. Making it surely, contagious; A contagious disease is a subset category of infectious diseases (or communicable diseases), which are easily transmitted by physical contact (hence the name-origin) with the person suffering the disease, or by their secretions or objects touched by them.

Genital warts may appear on a man's penis, anus, or in between the scrotum and penis. In women, they're found on the outside of the vagina on the vulva, or inside the vagina and even on the cervix. Sometimes they're too small (or hidden) to be seen.

Yet warts can clearly reveal;

Skin-coloured
Sometimes slightly darker than skin colour
Flat
Raised like tiny pieces of cauliflower
In singles or groups
Of any size, large or small
Smooth or textured on the surface
Other symptoms of genital warts can include bleeding from the vagina after sex, moisture in the genital area, and genital itching. Genital warts can also cause vaginal discharge.

Jealousy lives upon doubts, it becomes madness or ceases entirely as soon as we pass from doubt to certainty.

Having unprotected sex with someone who has HPV is a major risk factor for genital warts. Regular use of condoms, as well as having only one sexual partner (who is also monogamous) will help to reduce your risk of genital warts. If you have genital warts, using a condom will also decrease the risk of spread to other people, but even condom use can't completely prevent the spread of HPV.

The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts about reality.

Even after genital warts are treated, you may still be able to spread the HPV sexually because the virus may remain hidden in deeper layers of the skin. But having genital warts removed does help reduce the risk of HPV transmission.

The HPV virus type that caused the genital warts does not cause cervical cancer or cancer of the penis, but if you're infected with the wart causing type, it's possible that you are also infected with more dangerous types of HPV. So regular Pap smears and pelvic exams are a good idea for women who have had genital warts.

He that knows nothing doubts nothing.

Genital warts can be easily diagnosed during a physical exam. They don't require treatment, but treatment can help if the the warts are itchy or uncomfortable. Without treatment, they may get bigger and even more uncomfortable and more visible.

The virus itself, however, cannot be treated. But once it causes the genital warts, the infection can be treated, treating the warts can be done. There are topical medicines that you can put over the warts that may help them regress or go away. Warts can also be removed via cryosurgery (freezing) or even cut off.

Doubt is the key to knowledge.

A significant number of these warts will come back and will need to be treated again, but the body will often get rid of HPV on its own.

While perhaps not the most serious of sexually transmitted infections, genital warts are certainly a concern. Consistent and correct condom use can help decrease the risk of HPV infection. But with HPV, abstinence is the only way to completely avoiding it.

Can you keep a secret? One of the fundamental reasons why so many doctors become cynical and disillusioned is precisely because, when the abstract idealism has worn thin, they are uncertain about the value of the actual lives of the patients they are treating. This is not because they are callous or personally inhuman: it is because they live in and accept a society which is incapable of knowing what a human life is worth.
